Why Fibernow, Key Benefits
Frequently Asked Questions
- All Plans Come with a 12 month Rolling Contract
- Currently Internet access is delivered to most properties in your area via copper connections. These are limited to speeds of between 4-8mb and are prone to regular failures due to the age of the solution.
- To access high speed Internet , a Fibre connection from your property to the nearest exchange is required. In the case of Apartments, you also need additional cabling from each unit to the local Fibre termination point.
- Fibernow Ltd. has been given the permission to bring our own dedicated Fibre to your Development and cable all of the Apartments. This allows us to provide residents with speeds up to 1Gbps connectivity now and up to 10Gb in the future. No other Service provider has installed the required infrastructure and therefore only Fibernow are able to deliver high speeds across the Buildings.
- Fibernow will also deploy our high speed wireless technology which will deliver speeds up to 1Gbs to individual Houses across the development. This allows for quick installations and means there is no disruption caused by laying fibre cables
The Fibernow Internet service is completely separate from BT. We bring our own fibre to your community. Additionally, we install our own wiring infrastructure throughout the buildings. Once subscribed our service you will no longer need any BT services therefore no phone line.
- We specialise in providing the high speed fibre broadband and currently don’t offer any additional TV or mobile phone services. However we will be Beta testing a TV service within the next couple of months . Click HERE to register your interest to participate.
Fibernow has a target date of 1st May to launch our service.
This cost is broken in three parts :-
- Set up free – One time cost
- Monthly Subscription based on package selected
- Additional Monthly Fees , for Wifi Mesh Pack ( for larger properties ) For our updated price list follow this link .
Fibernow needs a minimum of 50 initial subscribers to rollout our services across the area. The confirmation fee of 50.99 is used to validate the demand for our services before deployment begins.
Once the service goes live, the same confirmation fee ,will applied to the customer’s account as an installation fee.
This covers our engineers attending your property to install the Fibernow cabling and Router.
Customers joining after Initial launch will also pay the 50.99 Install fee.
Persons who completed payment will be setup with a fibernow service account.
Our service should be ready by mid April at which time you will be sent a email requesting that you book a installation date for our engineer to attend your property. Once all local infrastructure is set up you can log into your Fibernow members area to make payment for your package.
- Installation Process
Our engineer will drill a small hole (10mm), in most cases above your front door, and will run a discreet, surface-mounted cable inside your property to the closest plug socket. This will allow you to plug in your Fibernow router and connect to our service.
Fibernow only uses white cables which are carefully routed to minimise visibility in your home.
In most cases, our installs take about hour and our engineer will always clean up after themselves. If you’re renting, please make sure you get permission from the landlord or homeowner before booking the installation.
N.B Please note you MUST clear the area for install before the technician arrives.
- Router Installation
Each customer will receive as part of their service a Free Wireless Router. For much larger properties where you require additional wireless coverage, we can provide an upgraded mesh solution. This comprises of up to 3 units which work together to spread the wireless signal throughout your home. This mesh wireless solution which will costs an extra £5.99 per month. In most cases , our engineer will set up the Fibernow Router as part of your installation, so you start enjoying your connection right away.
- Getting on the Wi-Fi
Everything you need to get connected to your Wi-Fi network is a label on the bottom of your Fibernow router.
- First things first, pick your device (phone, laptop, tablet, whatever you like) and head to settings.
- Select your network (SSID – you can find this on the back of your Router) and enter your password (also on the back of your Router).
That’s it – Wi-Fi Connected.
Our Solution is Inherently secure, with Firewalls at the core of the network. These allows us to provide required segmentation between each customer as they traverse our network to the Internet. Additionally the firewalls allow us to provide a base level security from Internet threats such as malware and viruses. Please note Fibernow does not apply any filtering or control to customer traffic by default.
IPv4 addresses are in short supply, so we use Carrier Grade Nat (CGN) for a more efficient use of our IPv4 address range. Some applications (including online gaming and VPNs) might be affected by CGN. Port forwarding can help with this – just remember that you’ll need a static IPv4 address, which you can buy from us for £5 a month.
If you already have a static IP, check out the URL below which describes how to configure port forwarding and also includes information on how to put your devices in a demilitarised zone (DMZ) https://www.usermanual.uk/tenda/nova-mw3/manual
A Megabit (or Mb) is the most common way to talk about broadband speed. The higher your Mb, the faster your broadband.
It’s a multiple of a bit, which is the most basic of computing units and is used for measuring the speed of data transfer. There are 1 million bits in 1Mb.
Our most popular package is the FN150. So, what can you do with 150Mb?
- Download a TV episode in under 2 minutes
- Download an entire film in 4-and-a-half minutes
- Upload 100 high-res photos in 16 seconds
Wireless signals are affected by distance from router (and any walls or doors in between) and by interference from other devices in the vicinity – such as other Wi-Fi routers, microwave ovens, fluorescent lamps, Bluetooth devices, wireless cameras, wireless game controllers, cordless phones, baby monitors, wireless AV equipment and even fish tanks.
This is because each Wi-Fi device connects to a wireless channel and, when other devices use the same channel, it can influence the quality of your connections.
If you are experiencing Wi-Fi interference, you can change the individual wireless channel within that band, in order to find one with fewer conflicting devices. Please consult the manual provided with your router or contact our support team who will be able to assist.
If your property covers a large area, you may also consider requesting our Range Extender kit which cost an additional 5.99 per month. This will increase the coverage area of your wireless signal.
Older computers and some devices may be unable to process faster speeds, so if you are seeing slower speeds than expected, try a newer device and re-test. Rebooting your router by switching it on and off again may also help.

- Firstly, please check you are testing your speeds correctly and bear in mind that actual speeds are often slower when using a wireless connection.
With a fibre connection, many of the speed problems that would affect fibre-and-copper connections won’t apply to you. If you do experience speed issues, there are a few steps you can take:
1. Reboot your PC/Mac
2. Connect to your Fibernow using an Ethernet cable rather than wirelessly
3. Try moving your computer/device to a different area if you’re using a wireless connection
4. If possible, verify the speed issues are not related to your computer by testing a different computer with the connection
In case a problem still exists, please contact a member of the Customer Service team on email us at support@fibernow.co.uk.
- The Fibernow Solution is designed to be resilient . We use resilient hardware, in our core network. This means that if one device fails there is second device which automatically takes over.
- All equipment is connected via UPS or Un-interrupted Power Supply Units. This provides a buffer against lost of power for short periods.
- Our solution utilises multiple connections to the Internet, and this means customers enjoy better overall bandwidth. In a case where one connection fails, all user traffic is automatically moved to the remaining Internet connection.
- All of these measures all work together to minimise chance of interruptions and deliver the most reliable to our customers.
This is a proactive managed service; our management platform checks all devices periodically and our support team are automatically notified in the event of outages. If you raise a fault report we’re normally aware and working on it. Customers can reach our team via the email address support@fibernow.co.uk
